Radiant as F*ck

A good friend recommended that I watch this documentary, The Nature of Existence, and even though it took me a few months to sit down and actually do it, I’m glad I did.

The cinematography is nothing to write home about, but I’m quite sure that anyone who has questioned the origin of humans and the Universe (whether you’re religious or not) would enjoy this film. From a spiritual leader in CA named Aha (who beautifully proclaims that his purpose in life is to be “radiant as fuck”) to religious leaders in Israel, Ultimate Christian Wrestlers (this is a thing), and even Richard Dawkins, this documentary explores vast and varied belief systems.

My take away was pretty simple: all humans are looking for a comforting way to explain our existence. Each path is a little bit different, and those differences are no reason to judge, exclude, or hate others. We’re all little humans in a big universe, let’s just get along and be radiant as fuck while we’re alive.

Loving kindness & positive energy (series)

I had the great fortune to meet a wonderful group of women (and one brave man!) recently, each one magnificently creative in their own right. Erin Paige Stegman designed and hand crafted the beautiful necklace I’m wearing in this photo. She creates this wearable art with love, kindness and positive energy – and I could absolutely feel it as soon as I put this on. So I’ll be sharing the experiences I have while wearing this and one other lovely piece from Erin’s collection… and you can join me in seeing what happens along the way.

On the day pictured here, I traveled from Maui to San Jose. A sour faced TSA officer thoroughly inspected my bag for contraband but smiled when she saw this piece. My flight arrived 30 minutes early, a friend picked me up, and our parking ended up being free. Just saying. I wore this again for my next day of travel, and I felt inclined to be friendly and open in ways that were unusual, even for me. On both flights I overheard people talking about having to sit apart form each other on the 2 and 5 hour flights and volunteered to switch seats without a second thought. It felt a little like being buoyed by an invisible kindness bubble. I had to smile, because I knew it was Erin’s energy that elevated me. I wore it again today, this time to work, and felt as though I were floating all day.

I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of adventures the love and passion in each of these pieces takes me on.
